This wouldn't happen if I had my OWN car or my OWN motorcycle, Dixon thought bitterly to himself as he paced the empty aisles of bookshelves with a sour look on his face and a baseball anxiously turning in his hands.

Earlier, his brother, Griffith, had sent him a text message saying he would be running late because he had to go to go to a doctor's appointment with Flora in Lawson's stead, as Lawson had been pent up in bed since the rumble. Of course, Dixon understood, however, this didn't stop him from being irritated. He'd spent all day in class and he just wanted to go home so he could finish up a lab report for his chemistry class and maybe go toss the ball around with Griffith or one of the other guys in the gang. The last thing he wanted was to be stuck on campus for an additional hour.

"Griff got his bike when he was sixteen, I don't see why I shouldn't have one." He uttered to himself with pursed lips and gave a gentle toss of the ball upward, just out of his hands, allowing it to fall back instantaneously.

Darcy sighed as he headed into one of the empty aisles, hefting his book bag over his shoulder. It was a bit disappointing that his sister wasn't going to be there until late due to having to help Harriet take care of Kasper, who wasn't so hot since the rumble but then again it wasn't anything he wasn't used to. If she took to long, he'd just walk home.

"Like that's anything new." He mumbled to himself and turned the corner into another aisle, looking for a new book for himself. He needed something for his history class and today hadn't been such a good day. Words were spinning in his head and he had a hard time reading out loud in class, which had been humiliating, especially since he was still marked as "new kid" and God, he wished someone else would enroll in his grade already.

He almost rammed into another boy in the midst of his thoughts, stopping himself short and stumbling back a step. "Ah, crap, sorry."

Dixon reeled back slightly upon being run into and dropped his baseball, which went rolling down the aisle just a bit. He blinked and looked up, noting a familiar looking kid standing in front of him (with matching glasses to boot...nerds). He pushed up his glasses and feigned a shrug.

"Hey, it's fine, I wasn't really paying attention anyhow." He said, studying the boy in hopes of remembering where he'd seen his face. It took him a few minutes before he recalled a history class earlier. He pointed to the kid. "You're in my history class...right? Mister Lowell's third period?"

Darcy paused and flushed slightly, going after the ball and stooped down to grab it up before starting back over to him. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, that's me." he said, wondering if this was going to be about his issue that morning with reading. "Here, sorry about that again." He said, holding out the baseball.

"Thanks, and really, it's fine." Dixon gave another shrug. The longer he looked at the kid and upon noting his reaction given when he asked about the class, Dixon realized the reason he looked as familiar as he did was because of an incident that had occurred earlier with some reading. The kid was struggling, hard, which kind of surprised Dixon considering how the class was considered an upper level class, so, surely, he wasn't stupid. Maybe there was soemthing else about him, but that wasn't really his business, he supposed. "So, uh, what are you doing?" He asked, jostling the ball in his hand as he spoke.

"I'm looking for the book we need for that damned class." Darcy laughed some and crinkled his nose. "And waiting for my sister. You? Uh- I'm Darcy, by the way." he nodded.

"Dixon." Dixon gave his own little half-grin before looking up to the shelf. He ran a finger over the edge of one of the higher shelves and stopped upon finding the book they needed, hefting it down for Darcy. "Here, and I guess we're in a similar boat. I'm waiting for my brother to show up."

"Ah, thanks man." Darcy reached for the book before tucking it underneath his arm and looking back up at him, fixing his glasses.

"Yeah? Wanna go wait out front with me? Feels pretty nice out for once." He offered.

"Yeah, sure." Dixon said, nodding as he gestured that he'd follow after Darcy.

Darcy nodded and went to go check out the book real quick before heading out front of the school with Dixon. "So ah, what's with the baseball?"

"Oh, yeah, uh, I had planned to go play with my brother or some of...his friends after school." Dixon said, using the term "friends" loosely, although, he supposed the boys were something like friends. "But, you know, here we are...stranded." He laughed.

"Ah, that sucks. I'd offer to catch and toss but uh, I kinda suck at sports. All sports." Darcy admitted with a small chuckle. "Much to my sisters distress."

"What? Impossible. No one can be bad at baseball." Dixon protested with a firm shake of his head.

"Then call me Kim Possible because I totally am." Darcy joked, moving to sit on the school steps.

"That was beyond cheesy, man." Dixon laughed, shaking his head. As they left the building and headed outside, Dixon paused to shrug his backpack off, abandoning it by the front steps. "Seriously though, c'mon, lemme toss you a few, I'll give you some pointers or something, prove that you CAN play."
