Welcome to Crosswell High, home of the Marauders & Crusaders!!

Crosswell highschool was the biggest high school in Shelbyville, or the entire county really. They were well known for players who later went onto being on teams like the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Indians after being star players for the Marauders, their priced Basketball team or the Crusaders, their other priced baseball team.

And really, Darcy was just excited as could be to be on the Crusader team, so he hoped. He had gotten high praises from the head couch at the baseball training camp and so on, but that didn't mean he wouldn't be on the bench the whole time.

It was their first week still at high school and while he and Dixon were new, Darcy decided it was nice to be away from the house for a while during the day. He loved his niece and nephew but they wore on the nerves sometimes (a lot of the time) too.

He climbed out of the car with Dixon, once they pulled up to the front for the school. "Thanks for the ride, Griff, see you!" he called.

"Anytime, Darce. Have a good day, stay out of trouble, all that shit! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!" Griff hollered after his brother and brother-in-law before leaning over the center console of the car to shut the door and driving off.

"But there isn't anything he wouldn't do." Dixon made a slight face, not really wanting to be back in the school setting. Of course, he was excited to be on a team and, even better, he was glad he was able to show off how much he'd filled out while practicing for said team over the summer, however...it was still school.

"Don't look so sour, Dixie." Darcy chuckled, looking over at him as he adjusted his book bag. "At least we don't have to babysit this way."

"I'd almost rather be pooped on again." Dixon cringed at the recent memory of having been pooed on by little Tessa herself. For him it was a memory of disgust, but a pleasant one for Griffith and Harper as it resulted in Tessa's first real smile.

Darcy chuckled and threw an arm around his shoulders. "Cheer uppppp." he tried, ruffling Dixon's hair.

"I caaaaaan't. We're the new kids, we're basically stigmatized. We don't really know anyo-"

"Hey, Fitz! Hunt!" Someone called, making Dixon turn his head to find none other than Leo Griest, one of the boys from the baseball team who he'd met at camp.

"Oh, uh, Leo, right?" Dixon greeted rather sheepishly, not expecting anyone to really remember him. Darcy, maybe, but him? No.

Darcy looked up, a bit shyly. "Uh, hey!" he greeted, uncertainly. He wasn't very good at socializing still.

"Just call me Griest, everyone else does." Leo grinned as he approached. He reached out, gesturing for a fist bump towards Dixon, who caught on fast enough to receive it. "So what's up, dweebs?"

"Uh, you know, just wishing I was anywhere but here." Dixon joked, hoping to break the ice.

"Just happy to not be baby sitting." Darcy chuckled a bit, rubbing at the back of his head.

"Babysitting? I thought only girls did that." Griest snorted, as he reached out to playfully jab at Darcy's shoulder. "Am I right?"

Dixon forced out a slight chuckle as to not offend Griest.

"Uh.." Darcy gave a slight chuckle of his own, forcing himself not to make a face. "Anyhow, what's up with you?" he tried.

"Oh, you know, me and the rest of the guys just got in. We usually get here mega early and go for a run through the neighborhood, Coach suggests it. We get here, go for our run session, shower up, and head on up to class. You guys should join us, beef up some and work on that cardio, you fellas need it, am I right?" Griest again reached out and again, jabbed at Darcy's shoulder. "Both you guys were thin as twigs at camp." He teased, which made Dixon flush with embarrassment slightly.

Darcy held back a grimace and reached up to rub at his shoulder, flushing too. "We weren't that bad." he tried with a very slight chuckle.

"Well, I guess you guys weren't too bad, but when I heard there was going to be a Fitz on the team, I don't know, I expected a behemoth like Mack or Lawson." Griest said, which instantly drew in Dixon's attention with wide eyes and arched brows.

"You know about my dad and brother?" He asked, unable to bite back the bit of excitement he had building up at the mention.

"Who doesn't know about them! My dad used to play on the team with your dad! Said when he came to the first practice, the coach almost sent him away thinking he was a grown ass man!" Griest laughed. "And eeeeverybody knows about Lawson Fitz. He was crazy good at baseball, am I right?"

Dixon's face lit up with a huge smile and he gave a firm nod.

"The best." He agreed.

"Yeah, I remember going to his games as a kid! He blew everyone's mind with that screw ball!" Griest said, stepping eagerly closer to Dixon, almost butting Darcy out of the way.

Darcy looked startled as he took a couple of steps back and blinked at them, not sure really what to do. It wasn't like he could join in on the conversation and it wasn't as though he could butt in either, that was rude and well... Dixon seemed to be enjoying the conversation. "Hey.. uhm.. I'm just.. gonna go ahead and wait for you, alright?"
