"Yeah?" Dixon retrieved the ball and figured thsi would be as good as any time to inquire about the incident. "So...you don't have to answer or anything, but, uh, are you having a hard time in Lowell's class, like...the reading?" He asked, trying not to sound too potentially asshole-esque. He turned the ball over in his hand a few times before giving another gentle underhanded toss.

Darcy caught this one a little easier, not focusing so hard on trying to do it this time. He hesitated on his answer, figuring that if Dixon wasn't making fun of him yet, he probably wasn't going to over something so .. well it didn't feel small to him, but small. "I.. yeah. Yeah. I have dyslexia. Usually I'm okay but I haven't really gotten much sleep lately and the bigger the words, the harder it is to kinda.. decipher whats right and whats wrong."

"Does Lowell know about, well, your condition or whatever?" Dixon asked then, gesturing for Darcy to throw the ball back. "Or, I mean, is there anything you can do to help it besides sleeping and junk?"

"I've tried to but she doesn't really believe me. I'm supposed to have an IEP, which is like a... personal educational program but I never got one because I wasn't diagnosed until I was twelve and my sister doesn't have any school records to prove it." Darcy explained, throwing the ball back to him, trying not to throw it so hard and ended up throwing it short.

"Sorry. Uhm, there's not really any way to treat it. Just.. practicing reading every day, which I do but I'm kinda stuck with it for life so I mean..." Darcy shrugged a little.

"Well, I mean, if there's anything I can do to help, writing notes, helping you study, you name it, I'm more than happy to help you out." Dixon said, running up to scoop up the ball with his mitt. Honestly, he could remember a time he was the one who got picked on when he first came to this school, so, he wanted to do his share and help this kid out if he could. Without skipping a beat, he threw the ball back, this time with a little more force.

Darcy caught that one with the finger tips of the mitt practically, almost stumbling over his own feet before going to throw it back. "I... seriously?" Darcy asked, looking at him. "This history class is kinda killer with the reading so it'd be a lot of help, really. My sister tries but she's... she's busy, I guess you could say."

"Yeah, seriously, I mean, I have to do the reading myself anyway, right?" Dixon shrugged, grinning as he reached out to catch the ball. His eyebrows shot up excitedly as the ball landed right in the center of his mitt with a satisfying 'whap!'. "Hey, look at that!"

"Yeah, that's tr-" Darcy paused as he saw, blinking a few times as if he didn't believe he did that himself. He glanced at his own hand in confusion before looking back at Dixon with a disbelieving laugh. "I've never thrown it properly before!"

"Well, looks like you have it in you after all, right? I probably should have made a bet with you." Dixon laughed before throwing it back, going to throw it overhand now with more force.

"Probably should've!" Darcy agreed with a laugh and managed to catch it with another satisfying 'WHAP!' and gave an excited victorious laugh. "Man, wait till I show my sister!!"

"Just watch, you'll outshine her soon, I'm sure." Dixon chuckled as he firmly smacked his fist into his glove, asking for another toss.

Darcy laughed happily before tossing the ball back, wondering vaguely what time it was and if his sister was supposed to be showing up soon or not.

Just as Darcy was wondering if his sister was going to show up, Dixon wondered, in the back of his mind, if his own brother was going to ride up. However, he didn't have to wonder for very long. As soon as he caught the ball in his glove, he could hear the familiar clanking of his brother's motorcycle not too far off. He looked over his shoulder and watched as, sure enough, Griffith came pulling up in front of the school.

"Oh, hey, that's my ride!" He said to Darcy. For a moment, he debated on whether or not to ask for his glove back, but ultimately, he tossed the ball back to Darcy instead. "You keep those, we'll play another time." He said, grinning as he went to collect his bag.

"I- are you sure?" Darcy grinned, holding onto them as he started over. He glanced over, squinting a little. "Your brother has a motorcycle?"

"Yeah, between me and my brothers, we have enough gear to equip a full team." Dixon assured as he gathered his bag, shoving his mitt into the bag before hefting it over his shoulder. "Yeah, ain't it cool? He built it himself and everything."
