The weekend couldn't come quick enough and now that it was finally here, Elliot was beyond excited. He stood at the entrance of the pumpkin patch by himself, Myra having stepped away to go grab hot chocolates for the both of them, waiting for Rory and Dallas to arrive.
Not only was he excited to show Dally the pumpkin patch, he was also excited for his son and girlfriend to finally meet. He and Myra had talked about it frequently enough and now it was happening and he was giddy. |

Rory parked her car in the first empty spot she could find, turning off the car and leaning back in her seat. This was the last place she wanted to be. Dallas was asleep peacefully in the back and she had spent the entire drive, coming up with excuses to not be here.
She could easily drop Dallas off with Elliot and say there was an emergency with a friend. Easily, right? She trusted Elliot wouldn't let Dallas be unhappy. God, she didn't want to be here.
She didn't want to see his new girlfriend, she didn't want to see him, she didn't want to feel like shit over feelings she didn't deserve to have. It just reminded her of the last conversation she had had with Jess when she thought- well... she had thought they could still be friends and Jess told her what was what.
Told her she deserved all the stress and unhappiness she felt after what she'd done. She deserved this. And as pathetic and self-destructive as she knew that was, it was hard not to agree some days, when her mother wasn't as sympathetic as she needed sometimes, when her brother didn't want much to do with her, when she didn't have a friend to really turn to, when she was stressed and lonely and it was just a long damn week.
Rory closed her eyes, taking off her sunglasses for a moment and stirred in her own sad little thoughts before she heard a sleepy coo from the back and sighed, going to get out. "You're lucky I love you so much, Dally." she joked, going to get Dallas out of his car seat, adjusting his little jacket and hat on him before grabbing the baby bag and going to go find Elliot, stomach tight and in knots.
She started up towards the entrance and gave a little wave to Elliot when she spotted him. |

| "Hey, glad to see you made it! I thought you guys were going to stand me up." Elliot joked as he waved Rory and Dallas over. He met the halfway and instantly made grabby hands for Dally. "Hi, Squeaky, did you just wake up?" He asked, recognizing Dally's 'bedhead' and sleepy face. |

You have no idea how close I came, mate.
"No, course not. Just ran into some traffic on the way." Rory said, going to hand Dallas over to him. Dallas picked up his head and coo'd sleepily towards his father, holding out his little hands and making grabby hands in return. |

| Rory watched from her spot, feeling almost out of place. Dallas reached to kiss Elliot's cheek, cooing gently at him as if responding. |

Elliot graciously took the kiss, slobber and all, and returned it with a firm smooch of his own to the top of Dallas's head.
"Thank you, Dally." He crooned.
"Eli, is that him?" A familiar voice asked.
Elliot turned around just as Myra approached, her face lit up when she saw the baby boy in Elliot's arms. Myra was on the shorter side with ample curves. She had an impossibly sweet face and long blond hair she preferred to keep swept up into a braid. In Elliot's opinion, it was hard not to be taken by her.
"Mhm. This is Dallas." Elliot introduced, turning so Dally could face Myra. "And, Myra, this is Rory, his mom. Rory, this is Myra." He added. |

| Rory felt her chest squeeze again but she held out a hand politely with a small smile. "Nice to meet you." she greeted. It wasn't Myra's fault. But Rory had to admit... compared to her, she felt unbearably plain. Boring. Myra looked very sweet and rather pretty. |

"It's nice to meet you too. Eli's talked a lot about Dally and his momma." Myra nodded, smiling as she took Rory's hand for a handshake.
"Only good things, I promise." Elliot said, which was true. He made it a point to never badmouth Rory in front of anyone, including Myra. Any issues he previously had were his and his alone.
Myra turned to Dally and reached up to take his little hand as well. "You look so handsome like your daddy." She cooed at him. |

"Oh, that's okay, big guy. You're shy, it's okay." Myra smiled, settling for a pat at Elliot's forearm instead. She turned to look at Rory and gave another little quirk of a smile before glancing up at Elliot. "They have lots of really nice pumpkins to pick from and they have a hayride too if you want to do that later." She suggested.
"Yeah, that'd be great, I mean...if you're not in a hurry or anything, Rory." Elliot said, glancing over at Rory then. |
