"You must." Rudy chuckled as he proceeded to hang things up as well.

"Hmm. How are you fairing today then?" Faye asked, glancing at him over a sheet she had just hung up.

"Well, I'm well. What about you? Haven't been working too hard have you?" Rudy inquired.

"Terribly so." Faye answered without looking at him, keeping a sheet between the two of them. "Straight to the bone, I would say."

"Well, I guess I'll have to speak to whoever is in charge, ask them to relieve you." Rudy said, poking his head around the sheet to look at Faye.

Faye laughed. "And just what will I do then?" she asked, looking at him.

"Come keep me company instead." Rudy shrugged with a chuckle.

Many months had passed since Faye had been taken by Rudy and his small village in revenge against Ricardo. It had been many months of plenty of change for her- a lot of contemplation now that she felt like she was free in a weird sense.

Free from Ricardo, though she was obviously not her own person fully due to the circumstances she was in. While she knew she was still something to hold over the bastard of a King, she felt like she was making this place more of a home and was beginning to fit in and be a little more welcomed than she ever felt in her previous home.

Her and Rudy had started something of a friendship that was seeming to only grow stronger as time went, she had made friends with the women she was often working beside for chores and for patching up other soldiers or hunters and the like.

The children around loved sneaking off to listen to her tell stories while she hung up laundry and learn how to dance from her. She was in modern terms the 'cool aunt' in town.

She was more herself than she'd ever been allowed to be. Confident, kind, open, sincere. All the things Ricardo tried to break in her.

And even getting to spend a holiday like she was now, was different and new to her. While of course they celebrated Christmas back 'home', it never settled right with her. It always felt so insincere and how could anyone feel comfortable celebrating such a religious day next to a man like Ricardo?

How could anyone be grateful for what they had when they welcomed death more than welcoming that man as a potential suitor? But this was new- seeing the main dining hall dressed in green with the Kissing Bush in the doorway and seeing people exchange gifts and having meals together and children running around in the snow excitedly.

It was hopeful, she supposed, as she stood outside the hall, cloak around her tight, watching the snow fall with a content sigh.

Rudy had admittedly become closer to Faye than he could have ever anticipated. She was supposed to be his captive and potential bargaining chip so he could gain his leverage over the Irish king, Ricardo, but as time went on and as he got to know her better, he realized that she was... well, she was something else.

They bickered quite a bit at the beginning, though Rudy tried to be as understanding and hospitable as he could considering he prided himself on possessing both of those qualities as his tribe's leader, but as time passed and they got to know each other the bickering turned into something much softer. He regarded her kindly, and she did the same to him. They often spoke to one another with a certain casualness that felt like they'd known each other for quite some time and it left great room for comfort.

Rudy's doors were generally open to the rest of the tribe, but he'd gone out of his way to ask Faye to come to the celebration and join him for the feast though she probably would have come either way admittedly. Even so, when he saw her, he was giddy with relief and happiness.

He handled a small sack tied neatly with a piece of ribbon and a little dried bunch of flowers as he headed over towards her, dodging some of the other festivity goers. He cleared his throat as he reached her.

"Aren't you chilly?" He asked.

"Perhaps a bit." Faye laughed a little. "But I'm alright. You took your time." she teased.

"Some of the sheep got out. I had to go help gather them before they wandered too far." Rudy admitted, which was a half truth. The other half of the truth was that he had to finish wrapping his gift for Faye before coming to the feast.

"Poor things just wanted a holiday of their own." Faye joked, her fingers wrapped around a small carved wooden box.

"In the freezing cold? I don't think that's a holiday worth partaking in." Rudy chuckled as he came closer. "Also...I might've been struggling with a wrap job." He said, presenting the small "gift bag" then.

Faye gave a warm little smile. "Oh Rudy." she said fondly with a little chuckle.

"It's nothing impressive, just something to express my gratitude for what you do for my people." Rudy explained as he offered it out to her. "And to also express my gratitude for our friendliness."
