Coco and Darcy had been together for the better part of ten years now and in all her life Coco had never been happier. She loved the their children and the life they built together, she also loved Darcy for being her partner through it all and helping make such a life possible.
A few years back, when the dance company where Coco was threatening to close down with the owner getting up in age, Darcy and Coco went in and decided to purchase the building and keep the business open under their management. It was a tricky transition at times, neither Coco or Darcy had any real experience in owning a business, but Griff offered his own wisdom to help guide them through it all. Though it was undeniably tough at times, Coco loved the business and the students and they loved her too, so no matter the difficulties, Coco was sure that they'd made the right choice.
Their oldest daughters, Haleigh and Annette, were growing up into pretty little things, looking much like their mother when she first came back into the Fitz's lives. Haleigh was just as rowdy and loud as her older cousins were at her age or even her uncle Dixon, while Annette was a little more relaxed and sensible like her father, though she certainly would not allow herself to be pushed around by anyone and could raise her voice to do so. Several years after their two eldest girls came a set of twins Genevieve and Emerson, after Coco and Darcy decided they'd try for "just one more" child. They were as curious and rambunctious as most toddlers were who spent most of their days occupying themselves at the back of the dance studio while heir mother taught lessons. Coco often found herself relieved to have had a set of twins so they could keep each other busy, but she also just as often found herself worn out when they were both being a handful. The twins had just become mobile when Coco found out she was pregnant again, this time by total surprise, with a little boy. Little Lawson was barely a few months old now, but Coco was certain from his temperament that he was just like his daddy. She brought Lawson to work with her with the twins more often than not and usually had him strapped to her chest while he slept so she could teach her lessons in peace.
Today was no exception as Coco guided a group of the younger kids she taught through their exercises while the twins played and Lawson snore soundly against her chest.
Coco had grown up into a beautiful young woman and was only further softened by motherhood. Her face was round and fresh with her eyes bright and full of joy, simply giving the impression that life exuded from her. She kept her hair long, though with children she hardly had time to style it anymore, opting for lazy braids down her back or high and out of the way ponytails and headbands. Today, she hadn't had the chance to even put her contacts in so she wore her glasses and a cozy sweater and shorts with tights as she went through her lessons with the kids, which didn't matter much. She didn't have to impress anyone until later that day anyway.
It was Darcy and Coco's anniversary and they had made plans for Dixon and Dana to take the kids for the night so they could go out and celebrate. She could get gussied up then for her night of romancing.
Darcy was heading through the dance studio halls as he kept his eyes down on his phone, texting back and forth with Dana about the plans. They were to 'keep' the kids and take them to the old lake dock. He was planning on taking Coco to the fancy bistro that had an upper level balcony that you could reserve a table. It over looked the lake and they had fancied it up for Darcy, when he put in a larger tip.
Ivy and lights wrapped around the balcony fencing, a candlelit dinner, the whole shebang. Dana, Dixon and the kids were going to head to the docks so the kids could pop the question to Coco. Would you marry Daddy again?!
He just really hoped it all went to plan like that. He wanted to show Coco just how much he cherished her. Their ten years together had been the best of his life, even with the extreme lows and extreme highs. Surely, the past few had been easier than their first few but he wouldn't change much of anything since it meant they reached this point.
Darcy hadn't aged much or poorly at all, except for the thin facial hair he had or the occasional bite or scratch on his hands and arms due to his profession after retirement from baseball. He wore his glasses, which he'd changed to square thin frames that sat neatly on the bridge of his nose and he was usually seen in his white veterinarian outfit and a pair of brightly coloured scrubs- brightly coloured in the request of his oldest children. They said the animals liked it better, supposedly.
He poked his head into the studio to see if the lesson was still going.
Coco was guiding the children in the last few exercises for the day when she heard the twins gasp and giggle excitedly. She looked up to see what had gotten them so riled to find Darcy poking his head in. She smiled softly and gave a little wave, though she kept on with the lesson, finishing up as best as she could now that the kids had also seen Darcy. As much as they loved their teacher, they loved her animal-handling husband almost more.
"Alright, let's go grab our shoes and bags so we can all go home for the day." She called, which sent all the kids flocking over to the front door and Darcy.
"Mister Darcy! Did you see any animals today?"
"Mister Darcy, Mama said she brought you my kitty, Thomas, for shots! Was he a good boy?"
Coco laughed a bit at all the kids swarming Darcy at the door and went over to gently coax them to the cubby area where all their things were kept.
"Alright, alright, come on everybody. We can't keep your parents waiting." She laughed as they all whined and went to gather their things. Coco smiled as she directed her attention to Darcy then. "Hey, Darce, happy anniversary." She said, stretching up on tiptoes to press a kiss to his cheek.
"I did, I did! Thomas was the bestest kitty." Darcy answered the kids as they whined and shuffled away, giving a small chuckle as he stood up properly and looked at Coco, reaching to kiss her cheek in return. "Hey beautiful, happy anniversary. Feeling okay? Hows the day been?"
