"I'll stay at your side." Faye murmured with a soft smile, the tips of her fingers linking with the tips of his. |

“And if someone wants to dance with you? Will I have to duel them to the death?” Rudy chuckled, his cheeks warming and his heart a little giddy. |

Faye laughed. "I'll politely reject them. I have a dance promised to someone else." she smiled. |

“And what if I couldn’t even tolerate the idea of anyone watching us dance? Admiring you?” Rudy smiled. |

"I imagine it would feel horrible, the same way I feel at times watching others admire you." Faye laughed lightly. |

“Oh? And who has been admiring me? Any suitors?” Rudy joked as he pretended to look around. |

Faye laughed, shaking her head. "As if you haven't noticed some of the girls fawning over you." |

“Not the one I want though.” Rudy chuckled. |

A good deal of time had passed since Faye had come to stay in the village Rudy presided over and in that time the twosome has become quite friendly with each other (to put it lightly).
They were nearly inseparable, save for the times they had business to attend to whether it was Rudy meeting with the other clan leaders or Faye helping out around the village as she was known to do. But when they weren’t busy with such matters, they were nearly attached at the hip. They often snuck off to walk amidst some ruins in the nearby forest, or sometimes, when the weather was warm enough, they’d find refuge in a creek. Sometimes they’d lounge in one of the castle’s “observatory” wings and watch the people down below while they talked or made up stories to entertain one another. It was a good life, one Rudy was completely content with.
Currently, Rudy was helping some of the men in the village put up a new hut for a couple who’d just been wed. It wasn’t typically work for a chieftain, but Rudy never minded work like this. |

Faye was, undoubtedly content with her new life and well.. dare she say it, perhaps in love with Rudy. In the time they spent together, Faye could easily be caught by anyone else admiring him or smiling at the things he said with ease, despite how rocky their meeting was.
Even now, she watched from afar where she was helping a few of the elderly women stitch up some clothing for the men, her fingers working delicately on the cloth. However, a cold chill ran down her spine when she heard hooves in the distance that were very quickly closing in. She turned, not sure Rudy had sent anyone out that day and felt her face pale when she noticed the colours on the horsemen and heard their yelling begin as they bombarded. |

“It’s a raid!” Someone yelled as soon as the whooping started.
Almost instantly, everyone rushed into a frenzy, trying to either get away and hide, or preparing to fight.
Rudy quickly set to doing the latter, dropping his task so he could grab up the nearest work tool turned weapon to fight. He quickly looked for Faye, knowing she was with the other women, all of who had rushed off to hide or seek out children and husbands. |

Faye looked horrified, getting up quickly to try and find Rudy but yelped and ducked to hide when someone ran past her, swiping with an axe. |

Rudy spun when he heard Faye. When he saw her in such close proximity to someone swinging an axe, he rushed over, grabbing her and pulling her away first before taking his own swing with a scythe they’d used to clear the plot of land they were working on. |

Faye clung to Rudy in fear as the man on the horse yelped and fell off. Others continued on their rampage, attacking those too close and destroying what they could reach before a few ran to town center, eyeing everyone around them with wild eyes. "WE'RE HERE FOR FAYE!" one called. |

Rudy’s arm instinctively wrapped tighter around Faye.
“And who sent for her!” He demanded. |
