Hei Ran lit up and she promptly went to tugging at Mi Na’s hand, who was more surprised than anything as she looked up at Tanner.

“Eomma, lets go! I want to go high! Fast!” Hei Ran chirped.

Mi Na got up slowly, still looking at Tanner, before going to the swings. She put Hei Ran in a kiddy swing and began gently pushing her all the while Hei Ran giggles excitedly.

“Ajusshi! Look how high I am!” She called, though in truth it wasn’t very high at all.

Tanner gave a faint faint upturn of his mouth. "Really high, kiddo." he agreed, his stomach tight with anxiety. She was his little girl, he was meant to be a father, this little family was everything he could've had if he hadn't fucked up.

A few days had passed since, well, everything, and to say Mi Na’s nerves weren’t absolutely shot would be an understatement. Between the move, regular mom stuff, and now grappling with the stress of the whole Tanner situation, she was absolutely spent, emotionally and physically.

But the show had to go on.

She was currently in the apartment kitchen, putting away some things from the move, while Hei Ran was busting herself in the living room by dancing and singing to something on the tv.

Mi Na didn’t think she’d hear from Tanner, especially if she hadn’t heard from him by now, so she didn’t keep her hopes up, but she’d be a liar if she said she didn’t think about him perhaps calling often enough still.

Tanner sat heavily on a park bench, near Soo Mi and Coda's flower shop. He was breathing hard from going on a long long run to help him think and try to work out his nerves. Especially since he decided he'd try and call today.

He'd spoke with his mother, his father and his siblings and even his grandparents for a long time about everything and came to the decision that he wanted to try his best at least. He didn't think he was AT ALL a person who was ever going to be fit to be a father and he wanted to warn Mi Na of that but he wanted Hei Ran to know that her father cared at least.

He wanted her to grow up with her mother and her father, like he did. He cleared his throat and gave his phone a voice command to call Mi Na as he made sure his earbuds were in firmly, his heart hammering hard.

Mi Na could barely hear her phone over Hei Ran’s music, but when she did, she called out to her daughter.

“Hei Ran, turn the tv down please.” She said as she picked up her phone on the counter. Hei Ran let out an obstinate whine in the other room, but ultimately ended up lowering the volume as her mother asked. “Thank you.” Mi Na cooed before glancing at the phone. Her heart instantly squeezed. It was Tanner’s number, which she put into her phone almost as soon as they parted ways the other day. She hesitated a moment, swallowing hard, before answering. “Hello?”

Tanner felt his chest squeeze upon hearing her voice. "H.. hello."

“Ah...hello, Haneul.” Mi Na said back, her chest giving a similar squeeze. “I...um.. is everything okay?”

“O-oh?” Mi Na glanced into the living room before stepping out of the kitchen to step just a bit further away into the bedroom for privacy. Just in case. “And?” She asked, preparing herself for the possible “worst”.

Tanner took a few shaky breaths. "I want to try- I'm not fit to be a father by any means, I'm not... paternal in any kind've way but I want her to know that I at least care and she has both of her parents, like I did growing up. I want to give her that. Even though I will be terrible at everything about it." he reassured.

Mi Na blinked.

“S-so...you...want to be involved?” She asked. She’d spent so much time thinking that Tanner wouldn’t want to have anything to do with their daughter that she hadn’t really thought about the chance of him saying something like this.

“Haneul...I won’t say no, of course, and I would like if you were there for her, b-but... I need you to know that you can’t just leave her o-or decide you don’t want to be her father anymore. It’s...it’s a serious commitment.” Mi Na explained, jumping slightly when Hei Ran let out a squeal and cheer in the other room at something presumably on the tv. “She won’t understand...and I don’t want her to get hurt.”

"Mi Na, that's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying that I'm going to want to walk away, I just.. I'm not sure that I'll be the father she'll want or people hope I am.. but I want to try. I do." Tanner explained.

Mi Na nodded, though Tanner wouldn’t see it.

“Okay...I just...are you free today? Or are you working?” She asked.
