Lowell gnawed at his bottom lip. "I-um- she.. she just.. she'd get really..." he took a deep breath, which trembled a bit. "Okay so... w-when I first met her, she was awesome, really fun girl and it was great. An-and then I guess she like.. relaxed? Around me and she.. she just.. I don't know, something was so fucking wrong." He shook his head slightly.
"She'd wake up screaming about things that weren't there, she'd blame me for things I've never seen or heard or even done. And.. and s-she.. she um, she started hitting me. A lot. An-and shes like.. fucking.. professional level in kick boxing. And I just- I don't hit girls. That's the one rule, yknow? And she knew that. S-so she'd keep hitting me whenever she was in these... episodes or whatever." He flushed with shame.
"And so I.. I told her enough was enough and I was leaving and.. then she said she wanted to work it out and I was so fucking stupid, I believed her and I was going to work things out and.. she.. I don't know, I-I guess she had stopped taking her birth control on purpose a-and fucked up the condoms we had or something but.. she got pre-pregnant and told me 'now you can't leave' an-and just..." he took another trembling breath.
"She just kept saying how she'd 'kill my baby' if I left or told anyone or anything, if she suspected me of anything, if I didn't listen to her, if I hit her back, which I never never did. Ever." |

Tessa let out an angry huff of breath from her nose and glanced over at Lowell's little girl in the seat just across the way.
"Well...she's not going to be around to not take care of her, so it's going to be fine now." Tessa said, her tone firm and sure. |
