Things had been... quiet in the Fitz house since.. that day. The day when any other emotion had been turned into hatred and grief and bloodlust. The day that the Fitz kids had lost their mother and father to, surprise surprise, a gang related incident.
Everyone had thought that the situation with the gangs was calm and settled and going to be non-existent anymore in their lives... they were all very very wrong. It had only been a couple of months since everything had caught back up with their parents and the next thing the kids knew... they were gone.
Like a damn flash of light.
And so the kids had decided to take matters... into their own hands. Darcy and Coco had taken over temporary custody of Charlotte, due to the situation and with MUCH fighting between the kids and their uncles and Aunts, they had put their foot down about going to Faulkner.
Which is why the house was being mostly packed up on their end for them to leave.
The twins were out at the truck that their parents had bought them at some point, loading up the bags while Harlow was in Harper and Griffith's room, Charlotte in his lap and they were just cuddling, silent, mourning.
Harlow almost didn't have to heart to leave Charlotte, they were connected at the hip practically since day one with Charlotte but there was no way he was going to be left behind. He wanted revenge. He wanted 'justice', no matter how they had to get it.
He was only, just barely, eighteen. And he was already bloodthirsty.
"Charlotte," he started, pulling away to look at her. "I'll be home soon. We all will be. Okay?" he promised. "Behave for Auntie Coco and Uncle Darcy? They'll be here in a moment to pick you up." he explained, the words heavy on his tongue. It sounded so familiar.
Lowell hefted Tessa's bag into the back of the truck and closed the lid for the truck bed, grateful to have it. It looked like it was going to rain, which was too appropriate for the feeling of the place and their moods. It was hard just to look at the house. "That's the last of the bags, Digs." he called. |

"Alright. Have you called Auntie Coco yet? Do you know if they're on their way?" Digby asked as he popped out from the truck cab. He reached up to smooth his hair, which he had tied up in a stumpy little ponytail to keep it from falling into his face.
Charlotte had nestled herself up close to Harlow, falling into her usual spot, which, before, had always been available, but she knew with her brothers and sister leaving it wouldn't be.
"Don't go..." She sniffed. "I don't want you to be gone too, Harlow." |

"I think Harlow did. He's in the house with Char right now." Lowell said, unable to hide the guilty tone in his voice. "I wish.." he trailed off, sighing heavily as he pushed his own hair out of his face. He wished a lot. A whole fucking lot. "Where's Tess?"
Harlow grimace, swallowing hard at the knot in his throat. "Baby girl, just... just think of it as a vacation, yknow? You're gonna have a ton of fun with Auntie Coco, Uncle Darcy and your cousins. And I'll come home as much as I can and I promise, I won't miss any holidays." he said, feeling fucking awful. He couldn't help but wonder if this is how his father had felt years ago. |

Harlow winced and lifted Charlotte up into his arms, going to carry her out of the room. "I'm leaving TedDee with you, okay Charizard? Think you can protect him and take good care of him for me while I'm away?" he tried. |

| "It's going to be okay, Charizard." Harlow murmured, glancing up as he saw Darcy and Coco's vehicle pulling up out the window. He took a deep breath and grabbed his old prized stuffed teddy bear, tucking it into Charlotte's arms, kissing her forehead as he went to head outside. |

| "Oh, baby girl..." Harlow let out a shaky sigh, holding her close as he headed out the front door and down the steps, his foot steps feeling heavy. "It will be, it will." he said quietly, wondering how the hell his father did this for so many years. |

Coco watched from the car, her eyes moist and saddened. She'd already tried her hand at begging Lowell and Digby to stay, but neither of them could even look her in the eye with their minds set.

Tessa was standing on the swing, the one Griffith had made to replace the one his father had built when it began to fall apart. She swung back and forth, looking sadly at the house in which she'd grown up in, in which they'd all grown up in. She didn't respond to Lowell.
