"Dally, are you sure you've got those flowers, buddy?" Elliot asked as he glanced down at Dallas toddling at his side, holding on to a bouquet of flowers almost as big as he was.
It'd been a minute since Elliot found out about his mother and while it initially took some time to process everything and figure out how he felt and how to cope with those feelings, he was coming around. It was hard at first, feeling like he had no right to mourn but feeling a deep sadness anyway. He hadn't known his mother, she gave him up before he even had a chance to remember her face, but he still felt like he'd taken a blow when he found out she'd passed away. It was Rory who assured him he had every right to be sad and she was the one who helped him do his grieving, she was even the one who suggested he go to therapy to talk it out (among other things). After some time had passed, after he'd worked through his feelings enough that he felt comfortable in the way he felt and the way he mourned, he started coming out to the cemetery once in awhile to make sure her graveside was tended to and that flowers were set out for her.
He'd done a bit of personal digging to only find out that his mother's parents passed not too long after her and that she had an estranged brother, but he couldn't even get a name regarding him. He didn't really have anyone he could ask to find out about his mother, so he settled for this, just visiting once in awhile.
Rory was out for the day and Elliot had the day off so he packed up both Dally and Ava and headed out to Northridge. Dally tottered alongside him and Ava was strapped to his chest, sound asleep in her carrier. Both kids were getting big. Dally was growing right up out of his toddler phase it seemed and Ava simply grew rounder and rounder with the way Rory fed her. They both had their parents' fluffy blond hair, though Ava's was almost as unruly and wavy like Elliot's, and they both had their dad's permanently pouted mouth. Undeniably though, they had their mother's eyes, dark blue and thick lashes.
Elliot reached down when Dally didn't immediately answer him, probably distracted by his task, and gently fluffed at his hair.
"Hey, are you alright? Do you need Da to carry them?" He asked as they started to come up on the grave. |

Dally looked up and shook his head. "Mh-hm!" he said, holding onto the flowers tightly.
At the grave stood a main in a bit of a worn out office-work suit, his jacket tucked in his arm, his hands shoved in his pockets. He had flowers on the site already and had cleaned it up a bit. He had greying blonde hair, blue eyes and freckles speckled all over his face and arms. He looked quite tired, like he'd had a pretty rough life with scars all over his arms and along his face.
He had deep wrinkles, father from frowning or laughing, it was hard to tell. He looked tired and looked just as sad as he felt, staring at the grave. |

"Alright, but you tell Da if you need me to-" Elliot paused when he happened to glance up and see the man standing at the grave site. He'd come a handful of times and every time he'd been the only one there. Even from a distance, Elliot could tell it had been cleaned up a bit. This was also a first. Was this his mother's brother maybe? Who else could it be? He hesitantly made his way forward. "Dally, stay close to Da, okay?" He told his son. |

Dally nodded, holding onto his fingers tightly. "Why?" he asked, which was his favorite word. Ever. In. The. World. |

"Mm, because when there's strangers, you should always stay close so we can be safe." Elliot reasoned as they came up on the grave site. "Um...hello?" |

Elijah blinked at hearing another voice and turned then to look at them. "I.. hello?" he said in confusion. "Can I help you?"
Dally hid behind his father's leg shyly. The man looked mean. |

"Uh...I mean, not really. We just...this is my mom's grave site and I've never really seen you, or anyone here." Elliot said, reaching down to pet at Dally's hair reassuringly when he felt him shift behind his leg. |

Elijah coughed slightly in shock. "I'm sorry, did you just say this is your mothers grave?" he sputtered, brows furrowed into quite the grumpy face. |

"I...uh...yeah. Are you her...brother?" Elliot ventured, his own brows furrowing a bit. |

"I.. no.. I'm.." Elijah squinted at Elliot a bit before reaching for his glasses in his pocket. "I'm..." he sighed. "I used to know her." |

"Oh. Can you...can you tell me about her? I know it sounds weird, but...it's all a bit complicated." Elliot admitted. |

Elijah studied Elliot for a moment. "..She was a soft quiet woman. Read a lot. Real smart. Smarter than me.. taught me a lot of what I know now. Big heart, full of a lot of love..." |

Elliot felt his heart squeeze, not sure if it was because he was pleased to hear about his mother or because it hurt.
"Oh...I see." He bit his lip. "I like reading too...but I'm not very quiet. I'm also not super smart, or, well, not in the way that most people want to be smart. Rory says I have a penchant for trouble and a knack for arguing." He chuckled a bit at that last part. |

"...Hey kid, when were you born?" Elijah asked, biting at his bottom lip. |

"I turn twenty-two this year." Elliot said. |
