Once the ambulance made it to the hospital, Leila promptly found herself admitted and was immediately whisked away for testing, but not before Leila thrust her phone into Jake's grasp.

"My dad...you have to call my dad and my brother." She insisted before they wheeled her off and left Jake in the waiting room, which Jake must have obediently done because not much later Leila's older brother, Grant, and her father, Thomas, came rushing into the hospital.

Thomas, unlike his daughter, was a tall man. He looked a bit wispy these days as age had made him look thinner than he once was. He had a full head of hair, blond like his children though there was bits of white hidden here and there, and a thick mustache to match. Grant looked nearly identical to his father, or rather, his father thirty years earlier as he still very much had his youth about him and lacked his dad's "ridiculous" mustache.

Upon spotting Jakob, the twosome hurried over to him, both clearly out of breath.

"Where is she? What happened?" Thomas asked.

"I don't- I don't know." Jake said, wringing his hands from his nerves. He had asked Leila in the ambulance but it was so hard for her to get much out. "She was asleep and then she was just in a lot of pa-pain, that's all I know."

"How much pain? A lot? Is that why you called an ambulance instead of driving here yourselves?" Thomas asked, brows furrowed with concern.

"It.. it seemed like a lot. I.. I was- I had taken a walk down to the gas station." Jake said, glancing back at the doors where Leila had been taken. "So.. she called I-I guess."

Thomas opened his mouth to say something, but was quickly cut off as Grant's arm shot out and grabbed at the front of Jake's shirt.

"Wait, what do you mean you were out for a walk? You just left her alone? In the middle of the night?" He seethed.

Grant had always been protective of Leila and when she turned up pregnant from a one night stand with some army bozo...well it went without saying his overprotective streak went into overdrive.

"Didn't you move in together so you could be there if she needed anything? What was the point if you were just going to go...go...fuck around!" He shoved Jake.

Jake looked startled and he threw his arms up defensively to block any potential blows, backing away. "W-woah, hey! H-hey, wait, please! I-it isn't like that, I'm sorry!"

"She needed you and you weren't there! What else could it be like?" Grant said, shoving Jake again, though this shove lacked impact as Thomas grabbed his son's arm to slow it's momentum.

"Grant, knock it off. He's here, he got your sister to the ER, he's taking care of her." Thomas scolded.

Just as Grant pulled his arm from his dad, a woman with dark frizzy hair approached.

"Excuse me, are any of you gentlemen Leila's partner?" She asked.

Jake swallowed hard to try and bury down his nerves over the whole situation just then and turned to look at the woman, clearing his throat shakily. "I uh, I am." he said, not wanting to clarify for brevity sake and because... well, in this case, he was her partner in all of this.

"First and foremost, I just want to say that Leila and the babies are all fine. It looks like the pain was just some ligaments being overstretched, nothing that will put any of them in danger, there will just be some discomfort for Leila. I'm prescribing her some medication for pain management as needed and I'll also give you some printouts of some stretches you can help her do, Dad." The doctor explained, reaching out to give Jake's arm a reassuring pat. "She's resting up in a room and you're all welcome to go back and check in on her while we get discharge paperwork ready."

"Is there anything else I can do at home to help prevent this again?" Jake asked quickly. "Can we go see her now?"

"Unfortunately due to the size of the babies and her own stature, it's something that can happen again without much rhyme or reason. I suggest you help her with those stretches, consider getting therapeutic pillows if you don't have them already. " The doctor explained. "She's in room 212. You're more than welcome to go see her." She offered a smile before heading off to go collect discharge paperwork presumably.

Thomas didn't wait to see if Jake or Grant were going to continue their little "scuffle" or if they were going to follow, he headed off in the direction of the room to go see his girl.

Inside her room, Leila looked much better than before. She didn't look uncomfortable, though she did look exhausted as she laid on her side, lazily rubbing a hand back and forth over her stomach and feeling the gentle thumps of little heels. She was glad everything was okay, though, a little embarrassed that she'd called an ambulance for what felt like nothing in the grand scheme of things. Though, she was also grateful that it was "nothing" and that her littles were okay.

"Sorry for the scare, babies." She spoke quietly.

Jake was very quick to follow Thomas, having absolutely no intention of continuing what was going on before. He just wanted to see Leila and make sure for himself that she and their babies were okay.

The three men trailed after each other down the hallway and up and elevator until they reached the room Leila was in. Thomas went to open the door, but paused and looked to Jake instead. He gave a quirk of his eyebrows towards the handle as if telling him to go in first. Leila was his daughter and arguably one of the most important things in the world to him, but she was something precious to Jake as well.

Jake blinked at him for just a moment before catching on. "Thank you." he said, sincerely before going to give a rapid little knock and then open the door. "Leila?" he called as he did, to not startle her.

Leila didn't sit up, but she did lift her head, sighing and smiling with relief when she saw Jake poking his head in.

"Hey, I'm so sorry for scaring you." She said to him, gesturing for him to come in. When she looked passed Jake to see her father and brother she smiled. "All of you."
