|
|
It had taken longer than Elliot had hoped, and they were pushing it awfully close to Rory's due date for their second little loaf, but finally, at last, Elliot and Rory had procured a house for their (hopefully done) growing brood. It wasn't the largest house, but it was at least a house. While about halfway through the process of looking and filling out applications, Elliot was almost fed up enough to settle on another apartment, he had admittedly wanted to hold out until they found an actual house with an actual yard in an actually half decent neighborhood, which, thankfully, ended up being exactly what they got.
It was a little three bedroom that was more than accommodating for Elliot, Rory, and their two kids. Elliot had nitpicked every house about the yard and he was admittedly in love with the spaciousness and the abundance of blackberry bushes and tree shade that came with this particular house. The interior needed a little work, especially in what would be the "nursery" (what with all the child locks), but Elliot had already started making plans for his friends to come over and help with that so things would be ready before their little loaf made their entrance so very soon. The kitchen was a bit dated (at least when it came to the tacky "groovy" wallpaper), but thankfully it had a new stove, dishwasher, and even refrigerator to his and Rory's pleasure. The living room was large enough and even had a small fireplace, which Elliot thought would be grand come Christmas.
Overall, the house was nice and the rent wasn't bad, so Elliot was quite pleased with it all.
He and Rory had spent the better part of the last few weeks packing all of their things in their respective homes and with Dally staying with Heather for the day, they were finally moving it all in and getting things "livable". Elliot had hauled in all of the boxes and all the furniture, leaving Rory to simply unpack things to the best of her ability given she was so close to dropping. Currently, he was assembling a new couch in the living room since Rory had deemed his couch "properly filthy" and unfit for their children. |

Rory was unpacking light things in the kitchen meanwhile, while Elliot was busy working away on the new couch. It had taken them a while to get where they were and she was quite content with it all, though it had taken quite a lot of 'spatting' between her and her mother for a while.
Rory, you are in love with the boy, otherwise you wouldn't have slept with him again. Don't give me that accident spiel. You have feelings for him, I know it, I'm your mother. I'm not blind. This isn't going to be healthy for you, what if he brings home another woman, hm?
God, the convincing that she had to do to make her mother believe she'd be fine. At least, she hoped she'd be fine.
She stood on tip toe to try and put some plates up for the time being and then gave a hiss of pain as she felt a muscle seize up, from her back to her thigh. "Ahhh, shit. Elliot?" she called, holding onto the counter as she tried to stretch the muscle out with a grimace. |

"Whatsit?" Elliot called back, in the middle of screwing a foot onto the couch. He paused a second only to push his glasses up from the tip of his nose from where they had slid from on the bridge. |

"Can't move." Rory called back, hoping Elliot would get the gist of it, squeezing her eyes shut tight as the muscle drew up tighter. "Owww." |

Elliot furrowed his brow a bit, confused, but when he heard her little whine of pain he understood and instantly hopped up to his feet and hurried to the kitchen.
"Jesus, woman, I left you alone for like five minutes." He 'scolded' as he went over to her. "What do you need me to do?" He asked, already bracing a hand at her hip for support. |

"I didn't even do anything." Rory 'grumbled' and then put a hand behind her back as much as she could to point to the area. "Ri-ow-around there. Jesus." |

"What? Massage it?" Elliot asked, mostly out of clarification as he already reached out to place his hand at the place she pointed to. |

"Yeah, sorry. It's just ow- seizing up." Rory pulled a face, shifting slightly to try and stretch her back again with a hiss. |

"It's fine, it's fine." Elliot assured, massaging the spot indicated. He kneaded at the spot and kept glancing up to Rory's face, gauging whether or not it was working from her expression. |

Rory winced for a few seconds before starting to relax a little as he worked out the initial major pain. "Geez." she breathed. "Thank you." |

"You're welcome. C'mon, take a break. I made the bed in my room, lay down for a bit. You still have some knots I can work out for you." Elliot suggested, easing up on the kneading. |

"Yeah, that sounds good." Rory sighed, standing up properly then but kept a hand on his arm for balance as she turned. |

Elliot didn't think much of the gesture, simply walked along with Rory, eyes flitting down to her belly, which was only getting rounder and rounder as the days passed.
"Does little loaf give you more grief when I'm not around?" He asked. |

"Mm, a fair bit. More than Dally ever did, which concerns me." Rory admitted, walking to the bedroom with him. |

"Really?" Elliot asked, taking her to the bed. He helped her down onto the mattress and pulled away from her grasp only so he could rearrange the pillows at the head of the bed to be more accommodating. He patted at them. "Lay down." |
